Large JSON Desk

Large JSON Desk opens big JSON files in VS Code as a read-only tree. Scanning runs in a worker thread, and children load in pages so the editor stays usable. You can copy the JSONPath of any node. The extension is pure JavaScript, with no telemetry.

What it does

  • Read-only lazy tree, a worker-thread scan, and paged children.
  • Each node shows key, type, and a preview. Copy JSONPath from a node. The status bar shows file size and scan time.
  • Lite is free. Pro adds a JSONPath filter, an array table, CSV export, a two-file diff, and NDJSON.
  • Published limits: the whole file is held in memory (about twice the file size), so files above about 500 MB are not supported yet. Rows stay rendered as you expand. Read-only by design.
